Far from being old-fashioned, though, IFA (short for Internationale Funkausstellung) will present the latest trends in entertainment and communication technology. A new section will be dedicated to electronic reading and eBooks. Apart from the fair, IFA will also host two concerts by British band The Kooks and Germany's most popular electronic export, Scooter. Back to MunichBerlin Music WeekSeptember 6-September 12:Times have change, since Berlin's party scene used to consist of a fun-loving bunch of revelers, who appropriated vacant spaces to celebrate electronic music. In the meantime, even officials have realized that the city’s vibrant club scene attracts tourists from all over the world and the former subversive forces have become the main promoters of Berlin’s international reputation. Hence, party organizers and officials have joined forces to present the Berlin Music Week, which will feature a fair for electronic music, innumerous parties and avant-garde performances.
Part of the event will also be the Berlin Festival on September 10 and September 11. Taking place at the picturesque premises of former airport Tempelhof, the festival will team up such fabulous bands and DJs as Tricky, LCD Soundsystem and Fatboy Slim. "WeltWissen" (World Science) will comprise the history and enterprises of such institutions as Humboldt University (founded in 1810), Charité hospital (founded in 1710) and the Max-Planck-Institute.
