Munich Triathlon

Virtually anyone can swim, run or ride a bicycle. When those three sports are combined into one competition, however, things get a little more strenuous. The Munich Triathlon challenges professional athletes and weekend warriors to take on the three-step contest. On July 27, at Riemer Park in the east of Munich, a show-jumping course will be established. There, participants will swim 0.5 kilometers, bike 20 kilometers and then run the last 5 kilometers. For athletes who feel like facing Olympic conditions, there will be a triathlon with 1.5 kilometers of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling and a 10-K running race. If you still feel like you’ve got something left at the finish, register for the Munich Marathon, which will be held in October. Then, both of your racing times will be added up and your total time could qualify you to become the “Munich Hero 2008.” To take part in one of the triathlons, register at www.muenchentriathlon.debefore July 14. The registration fee costs € 48, or € 58 for the Olympic distance. For more information on the Munich Marathon and the Munich Hero award, visit www.muenchenhero.de. <<<
