Completion of Münchner Kammerspiele Project

The daunting task of adding new space to the Münchner Kammerspiele has now been finished after almost a decade of construction work. The extension at a rear building on Stollbergstrasse houses fifteen small apartments for guest artists of the Kammerspiele, as well as studios and classrooms for the Otto Falckenberg Drama School. The drama school is associated with the city theater and is one of Germany’s most acclaimed education programs for aspiring actors. It has trained numerous well-known German actors, including Mario Adorf and Otto Sander of the Oscar-winning film The Tin Drum, Bavarian actress and former director of the Volkstheater Ruth Drexel and Franka Potente, who co-starred with Matt Damon in The Bourne Identity. The work of the Drama School can be viewed regularly as part of the Münchner Kammerspiele’s repertoire. This month, Otto Falckenberg students will perform Italienische Nacht by Horváth on March 18 and 19. Both performances at the Werkraum of the Münchner Kammerspiele start at 8 pm. Tickets cost € 9.
For the city of Munich, however, construction work on cultural institutions will continue. Upcoming projects on the docket include the Lenbachhaus, the Stadtmuseum and the Deutsches Theater. <<<
