Spanish Avant-Garde

“Half a Century of Avant-garde Art: 50 Years of Etchings from Joan Barbarà’s Workshop,” runs through November 16 at the Cervantes Institute, the Spanish cultural institution on Alfons-Goppel-Straße 7. Though not as re-nowned as contemporaries like Miró, Picasso and Dalí, Barbarà founded a graphic arts studio in Barcelona that developed an international reputation for artistic etching. Barbarà’s son Tristan helped to compile 30 works for the exhibit, which gives a historical overview of etching. The institute is open Monday through Thursday, noon to 7 pm, and Friday, 10 to 2 pm. Tours are available in Spanish and German. www.cervantes-muenchen.de <<<
