An “Un-Art” Exhibition

In curating the exhibition “Allan Kaprow: Art as Life,” the Haus der Kunst faced the challenge of finding ways to represent the ephemeral “happenings,” “activities” and “environments” of a self-proclaimed “un-artist.” During the 1950s and 1960s, Kaprow staged multi-disciplinary and interactive performance pieces that examined the minutiae of daily life. He believed that all environments, including museums, should facilitate the creation of new art. With that in mind, from October 18 to January 21, 2007, the Haus der Kunst will present the remaining traces of Kaprow’s work. Also be on the lookout for new presentations of famous happenings throughout the city.
