Happy Heart Day!


Remember lovebirds, Valentine’s Day is Tuesday, February 14. If you’re still looking for a way to celebrate with your sweetheart, we’ve got a few suggestions:

  • If you’d like to whip up a romantic meal for your loved one, but aren’t much cop in the kitchen, it’s not too late. The cookery school at Café Kubitscheck is running a special course on Monday, February 13, where Manuel Reheis from Broeding will help participants prepare a four-course feast, which they can take with them and finish off at home the following day. The course price of € 155 includes the full meal for two, Tupperware boxes, a romantic “dinner for two” kit to set the atmosphere and food and drink during the lesson.   • Of course, there’s always the easier option: The Maritim Hotel will have a four-course menu, which includes a bottle of champagne, for € 59.50 per person. Dinner begins at 6 pm. Goethestrasse 7, Tel. 55 23 50.
  • A four-course candlelight dinner at the Drehrestaurant in the Olympiaturm costs € 58 per person. Reservations are required, Tel. 30 66 85 85.
  • For € 69 a couple, the Ratskeller will serve a dinner including an aperitif, a bottle of wine, an appetizer, your choice of a fish, meat or vegetarian main course, dessert and espresso. Reservations are recommended, Tel. 219 98 90. Dinner starts at 6 pm, followed by a night of live music and dancing.
  • Go low key and head to one of the three Akakiko Running Sushi Restaurants for an all-you-can-eat (within one hour, that is) sushi deal for € 17.50. You’ll get a red rose, too!   • There’ll be sweet sounds filling the air at Schloss Nymphenburg, as part of a Valentine’s Day concert “Klassik für Liebende.” A choral ensemble will perform romantic arias and duets from a variety of operas, beginning at 7:30 pm, in the Hubertussaal.   • Enjoy a candle-lit, rose-petal massage with your loved one at Wellness Sungai, Bogenstrasse 10. For € 199, you’ll both receive a tantalizing 50-minute massage with aphrodisiacal aromas, along with Sekt and a platter of exotic fruits. Ooh là là! To schedule an appointment, call Tel. 41 99 98 01. Or head with your honey to Bamboo Massage, a less expensive option, but just as romantic and relaxing.   • Spend a romantic evening admiring the stars with a tour of the observatory (Sternwarte) at the Deutsches Museum. The tour starts at 9 pm, and offers visitors a look at the moon, the rings of Saturn and other celestial bodies. Tours are held only if the sky is clear.
