The Great Bavarian

Habemus Papam… or, for those of you who aren’t so hot on the Latin, “We have a new Pope.” And since that new Pope is Bavarian, you won’t be surprised to hear that, yes, you can take a tour in honor of Benedict XVI, following in his footsteps through Bavaria’s capital and to the surrounding places where he lived, studied, worked and prayed. Visitors will see the Pope’s birthplace in the village of Marktl, the archbishop’s palace, where he lived from 1977 to 1982, and the University of Munich, where, in 1957, he studied theology and worked. The Pope experience is just one of a number of options—other trips look back at Munich’s ruling family, the Wittelsbachs, or at the city’s Third Reich history. All tours are available in English and prices vary. For more information and booking, call Tel. 23 33 02 31.
