King Ludwig is back

Move over Danny Zuko, there’s a new cat in town—Ludwig II. The legendary Bavarian king was obsessed with castles, plagued with madness, a touch eccentric and more than a little controversial. Add his mysterious death in Lake Starnberg to the equation and there’s no wonder the tale still fascinates today. Indeed, Ludwig’s legacy has been given a new lease of life with the new musical “Ludwig II. – Sehnsucht nach dem Paradies.” Beginning on August 1 at the Deutsches Theater, King Ludwig’s life and death become a theatrical experience, complete with song. This musical will be performed as a special “Munich version” due to Ludwig’s strong connection to the city. Ludwig II sings his heart out Tues. to Sat., beginning at 8 pm, and Sun. at 7 pm. There’s a special matinee on Sat. at 3:30 pm. The show runs until October 9 and tickets start at € 14.
